Knowledge Panel

A prominent information box that appears on the right side of Google results for well-known entities.

A Knowledge Panel is an information box that appears on the right side of Google's search results (on desktop) or at the top of results (on mobile) for searches about well-known entities — companies, people, places, organizations, and products. It draws information from Google's Knowledge Graph.

Knowledge Panels display key entity information: company name, logo, description, founding date, headquarters, social profiles, key executives, and more. They signal strong brand recognition and entity establishment in Google's Knowledge Graph.

For B2B brands, having a Knowledge Panel appears for branded searches provides social proof and enhances the searcher's first impression of the brand. It also protects branded SERP real estate by occupying prominent space that might otherwise be used by competitor ads or review sites.

Getting a Knowledge Panel is not entirely within a company's control — Google decides when to show one. However, you can help by: having a Wikipedia page, being consistently cited across authoritative sources, having well-structured structured data on your site, and ensuring your business information is consistent across Google Business Profile and other directories.
